“Tummy Hurts (feat. Coco Jones)” by Reneé Rapp

Queen Reneé! This year, Reneé Rapp has been one of the most significant musical artists in my life, and it started with this song. By now, I’ve watched the music video countless times. I was absolutely blown away by her powerful vocals in this song and just kept listening to her sing beautiful stories. This remix with Coco Jones still remains one of my favorites!

“Superpowers” by Daniel Caesar

I am obsessed with every single song on this album, but I decided to choose this one! His music never fails to make my day, and it hits especially hard when I’m listening to him as I’m in the car on my way to school or in the evening. He just has one of those voices that keeps you hooked. I don’t know how else to explain it. I guess you’ll just have to listen and see for yourself!

“light” by wave to earth

wave to earth is such a summery band – I especially love listening to them and other similar artists while I’m sitting on the porch or laying on my bed as the sun sets, glowing rays of light illuminating my room. This song is my first song from them, I believe, and it makes me feel like I’m floating; I hope you feel the same way when you listen to it!

“Every Summertime” by NIKI

NIKI is such a talented artist, and I really love her other song “Oceans and Engines,” but this one is more upbeat and summery – I mean, the word “summer” is literally in the song title! I remember when this song was first released as part of the original soundtrack for the Marvel movie Shang-Chi; I thought it was so cool how these Asian artists and celebrities were gaining recognition through this movie (happy AAPI month, by the way!). Anyways, I definitely recommend this song for the summer; maybe as you’re having a picnic or eating outside!

“Falling Behind” by Laufey

If you know anything about my music taste, you’ll know how much I LOVE Laufey! She is such an empowering and inspiring woman and artist, and her music is the very definition of solace. This song has been on my mind as I get closer to graduating, but her voice is just so reassuring to all my worries. While I listen to her almost all the time, my favorite moment to listen to her is when it rains. Once again, I feel so calm and relaxed while I’m on the porch and watching the rain fall, her songs playing in the background. You’ll know what I mean if you try it some time!

“Pink + White” by Frank Ocean

This song is pretty popular, but it’s still one of my favorites. It just brings me such peace and reminds me of summer. Frank Ocean’s music is the perfect soundtrack to summer, and when I listen to him, I almost feel like I’m melting into the earth (but in a good way). This song in particular is best appreciated with your eyes closed while laying in the grass in the evening after the sun has set and the weather is cooler. Try it sometime this summer! 🙂
