With October starting, love is in the air, affection for the season and loved ones high. On that note, here are a few of my favorite fall love songs to blast on the way to the pumpkin patch or while getting ready for a spooky halloween party.
“We Fell In Love In October” by Girl In Red
I’m starting off with this song because it is a widely known fall staple among teens all over the world, but also because of my memories around the time I first heard the tune a few years ago. It was at the peak of the pandemic in fall of 2020, and I spent as much time as I possibly could on the rickety trampoline in my backyard. I had knobbly little bluetooth earbuds, and I would lay in the leaves that collected on the bouncepad with my eyes closed, completely entranced by the imagery that the song provided. This was also smack in the middle of my middle school years, so I was naturally in a constant state of confusion regarding my sexuality, and this song provided me with an opportunity to hear another person’s experience and all the amazing parts of being gay.
“Meet Me At Our Spot” by THE ANXIETY
If there was a song that could describe fall bonfires and long hikes under red and brown leaves, it would be this song for me. Personally, I interpret it as a platonic love song, but I think that fact only causes me to love it more. When I hear the melody and the rough texture of WILLOW´s voice, I automatically imagine yelling this song cheerily off a cliffside, surrounded by fall leaves, the smell of bonfires and caramel corn on the wind.
“Ur So Pretty” by Wasia Project
This song is definitely the mellowest out of this list, but it is 100% the most romantic. The name alone says enough about the message of the song, but my pure adoration for the tune cannot be easily expressed. Everytime I hear it, I am transported to a room of candles and coziness, the song acting as a warm cup of coffee or a delicious cherry tart. It’s a song I never hesitate to play through my headphones on a rainy day as I stare out the window and lose myself in the cascading droplets of water.
“Kiss Me” by Sixpence None The Richer
As much as I hate to admit it, I first heard this song when it was popular on Tik Tok about a year ago. Since then however, I have grown to love it, therefore adding the tune to every playlist in which it fits. I have always been an avid fan of Fleetwood Mac, and while Sixpence None The Richer was about a decade later in their fame, I tend to associate their sounds with one another. In all, I love the vibes of the song, and I firmly believe that it would be an awesome song to jump in leaf piles to.
“All Too Well” by Taylor Swift
Ending with another iconic piece of music, Taylor´s ¨All Too Well¨ has always been an incredibly fall-like tune for me. I am very aware that this is not a love song, but more so a song of breakup and rejection, however, I have always found it romantic in its length and melody, as it is easy to get lost in, and so fun to sing at the top of your lungs with the people you love. Even in the music video, the environment is all fall, one scene even including the main characters walking through a red and orange forest.
In all, the fall is a great time to snuggle up with the people you love and sip lattes while watching various halloween movies. I hope that everyone reading this has a fantastic fall, and that you find the songs that make fall your favorite season, just like mine did for me.
