With finals coming up, hours of studying are a given. These are some of my favorite songs, and they constantly accompany me through homework, worksheets, and late night study sessions.
“Scott Street” by Phoebe Bridgers
Bridgers’ soft voice automatically calms me, and this song is no exception. Because this song has been a staple on my playlists for years, the lyrics are so familiar to me that I can sing to the music while still concentrating.
“When she Smiles” by Gigi Perez
I recently discovered Gigi Perez when one of her songs came up on my recommended playlist. Since then, I’ve fallen in love with her music. The repeated lyrics and soft tone make it one of my favorite songs to listen to while I focus on homework.
“Come Over” Noah Kahan
Noah Kahan became known on TikTok for his album Stick Season, and even though this isn’t one of his most popular tracks, it’s one of my favorites. The acoustics in the background and mellow lyrics make it easy to listen to. At the end, the volume and pace increase, providing a much welcomed break from work.
“Heatwave” by Julien Baker
I love this song for so many reasons. The instruments in the background and raw lyrics are both so gentle yet have so much emotion behind them. It’s one of my favorite songs to listen to at night or when studying because of the mellow tone.
“Like Real People Do” by Hozier
I first heard this song while listening to Hozier before Bourbon and Beyond last year, and it’s since become a frequent on all of my playlists. Hozier discusses falling in love with someone without talking about their pasts. Despite the deep lyrics, this song has repetitive sounds, making it easy to listen to while also focusing on other things.
