Rain pounded against the concrete as pools of water surged against the sidewalk. Amidst the gloomy conditions, a small white building with bright blue accents and picnic tables stands out. In front of the building, a bold black and white sign reads “FULL STOP.” As we entered the cafe, the atmosphere felt like a comforting light in the overcast weather.
Located on a corner wedge of Germantown, FULL STOP is a one stop shop that provides convenience, coffee and food. Fellow staffers Loren Williamson, Sadie Eichenberger and I visited the cafe, excited to explore a potential local pick-up spot.
As I debated which items to order off the extensive menu, I checked out the items on sale near the front entrance. Colorful art prints, character sticker packs and small knick-knacks were displayed among the festive Christmas lights and stocking decorations. FULL STOP merchandise sat upon the shelves, waiting to be bought. After perusing the items, I went back to the counter and we all ordered.
While waiting for our food and drinks, we walked to a bench seating area. Plush pillows adorned the seats, uplifting the comforting atmosphere of the cafe. Within a few minutes, I received my order – an iced hazelnut latte ($5.25) and a blueberry scone ($4). The latte had the perfect amount of sweetness and a rich coffee flavor. The blueberry scone had a balance of both sweetness and subtle tartness, with a buttery texture to compliment the flavors.
Loren opted for an iced chai ($4.50) and Classic Burger ($9). The iced chai had a spicy kick, setting it apart from drinks offered at other cafes. The classic burger was “the bomb dot com” with a soft bun and juicy burger patty. Typically burgers aren’t found in cafes; however, the burger and chai combination was delicious.
Sadie ordered a vegan blondie ($3) and Frisky Burger ($9). The blondie was moist with a soft, chewy texture. Additionally, Sadie loved that it was vegan, eliminating her dietary worries. The Frisky Burger, much like the Classic Burger, was the perfect after school pick-me-up.
FULL STOP also offers smoothies, burritos and other food items.
The station has become my new favorite place for a good meal and drink. We all enjoyed our experience and definitely plan on coming back again.
