While many people consider winter their favorite season, I definitely do not. I hate the discomfort of snow melting in my shoes and icy water on the ends of my jeans as the cold air makes it difficult to catch my breath. It’s hard for me to consider it a favorable time of the year. If you’re like me, there’s nothing music can’t fix, even in darker times. Here are some of my favorite songs that help me get through the cold season.
“Owls Eye” by Ivri
I recently discovered this song earlier this month. I heard it in the background of a TikTok and immediately added it to my playlist. I find comfort in the tranquil sound of the singer’s voice. I definitely recommend checking out Ivri’s discography – though not a widely known artist, she is definitely worth checking out!
“Fairy of Shampoo” by Dosii
During the summer I like to expand my taste by listening to the playlists Spotify recommends, and that’s how I discovered this song. Dosii is a musical duo – Choi Jonghyuk and Jeon Jihye – and their music runs in the R&B/Soul vein. Their voices compliment each other and create a vibe that is fun to listen to when you’re looking to get lost in thought.
“Homesick” by Wave to Earth
Wave to Earth is a fairly popular band that has started to gain more traction recently. This song is one I had on repeat while on vacation back in September of 2024. I would often find myself missing Mexico, feeling like it was a second home, and this song has really connected to me.
“Fall into u” by Oscar Lang
Throughout 2024 I was absolutely obsessed with this song. I had it on most of my playlists, and it quickly became my number one song, revealed to me by Spotify Wrapped. The song got me through the whole year, often soothing and helping me get some rest.
“A Huge Tree in the Tsukamori Forest” by Joe Hisaishi
Studio Ghibli has been a huge part of my life. I remember spending afternoons in my grandmother’s house glued to the TV after renting out multiple movies like My Neighbor Totoro, which is one of my favorite films of all time, so this song always manages to make me nostalgic and take me back.
