The winter months often leave us yearning for a taste of spring. Louisville’s weather is all over the place, so during one of the many cold spells we decided to enter Tino’s Taste of Heaven. Shades of pink and yellow decorate the interior, paired with the flowers on each table, making Tino’s Taste of Heaven the perfect escape from a gloomy day. Walking into this homey restaurant felt like experiencing the warmth of spring.
Although the space is small, the large tables inside can accommodate big groups, making Tino’s a great place to go with friends or family. Beyond the appealing decor, the food is amazing. Made fresh upon arrival, each meal is cooked right in the kitchen.
The brunch menu offered a diverse range, so we each took our time narrowing down our order. Eventually, we decided on the French toast sandwich ($11), the breakfast platter ($11) and a strawberry lemonade cake slice ($3).
Our food came out in about 15 minutes, and every second of the short wait was worth it. The French toast sandwich was similar to a homemade breakfast sandwich, but it was plated nicely and very flavorful. The most notable thing about this sandwich was its size, just a few bites were enough to begin filling us up.
The breakfast platter consisted of eggs, potatoes and meat and bread of customer choice. For our meat of choice, we chose sausage, and as our bread of choice, we chose Texas toast. Despite our afternoon dine, the platter was made just as fresh, truly encapsulating the “Breakfast Anytime” sign placed neatly in the window.
For dessert, we were pleasantly surprised by the strawberry lemonade cake slice. Upon the first bite, we immediately noticed the spongy and moist texture, but the component that stood out most was the sweetness of the strawberry icing. The slice is the perfect contrast to the many savory items on the menu.
Our trip to Tino’s Taste of Heaven was truly as it is named, a taste to heaven. We recommend this restaurant to everyone who loves comfort food, home-cooked meals and spring feels as the season changes.
