Now that the weather’s warming up and everything’s starting to bloom, I’ve been leaning into songs that match that energy. These are a few tracks that make me want to roll the windows down, walk a little slower, and just enjoy the shift in seasons.
“Here’s Where The Story Ends” by The Sundays
So many of The Sundays’ songs remind me of spring. Their songs always put me in a better mood, and this one in particular feels like driving around on a sunny day with my windows down and nowhere to be. There’s a gentleness in her voice that makes everything feel a little less serious, and sometimes that’s exactly what I need.
“Lady Love” by Thee Sacred Souls
This song is pure sunshine. I first discovered Thee Sacred Souls over a year ago, and they’ve been a staple in my playlist ever since. “Lady Love,” in particular, has this warmth and ease to it that makes it feel like a song I’ve known forever. Every time I listen to it, it’s like the world slows down a little and everything just feels more relaxed.
“Like a Rolling Stone” by Bob Dylan
Yeah, it’s a classic, but for good reason. I’ve heard this song more times than I can count, but it never gets old. There’s something about Dylan’s voice that feels steady, like something to come back to when things feel kind of up in the air.
“Ship to Wreck” by Florence + the Machine
Florence + the Machine really knows how to turn emotional chaos into something beautiful. “Ship to Wreck” is loud and dramatic, but somehow still feels refreshing, kind of like when spring storms roll in and clear everything out. There’s a kind of clarity in its chaos that makes it perfect for this time of year.
“Heavy Metal Drummer” by Wilco
This is such a simple and joyful song. It captures that weirdly specific kind of nostalgia you get for moments that didn’t even seem important at the time. Also, if you’re a fan, they’re playing at Iroquois Amphitheater on May 17!
