In Prospect, I was invited in by a small corner coffee shop that had ’90s music playing from a jukebox. The laid-back atmosphere, combined with the scent of espresso, consumed me and pulled me further in.
Looking for a gluten-free cafe for my siblings and me to hang out on a Saturday afternoon, we came across Please & Thank You.
When I walked in, my siblings and I were greeted by a friendly server who helped us all decide what to order. Waiting for my food, I saw a juke box sitting next to a cozy fireplace. A person went up, shuffling through a few songs, and had finally decided upon “Too Much of a Good Thing” by The Sons. This was followed by “Doo Wop (That Thing)” by Lauryn Hill.
When our order was ready, we sat down at a nearby table to enjoy the ambience. My sister and I both received a chocolate chip cookie ($3.86), which was the perfect balance of buttery dough and rich chocolate chips. The flavorful and chewy cookie melted in your mouth, which was a great pair with the caramel iced coffee with almond milk ($5.46). This helped emphasize the taste of the cookie. The coffee wasn’t overpowering, pairing well with my taste and the cookie. My sister opted for the regular caramel iced coffee ($5.15), which was a stronger coffee that helped reset your palate before each bite. Both make the cookie even more delicious.
My brother, who is gluten-free, ordered the gluten-free brownie ($4.64), which was moist with a kick of salt, making it the “best gluten-free brownie I’ve ever had”. To accompany his brownie, he had a Laura Palmer ($4.33). A sweet tea, mixed with lemonade, that was sweet but felt refreshing from the minty lemon aftertaste.
Please & Thank you has coffees, teas, lemonades, and a variety of pastries, including gluten-free options.
The cafe has become a new spot for me to hang out with friends and my siblings, which has good vibes and food that comes with it. I can’t wait for my next visit!
