Finding costumes this year may be difficult. People keep flooding my feed with the same thing, and it’s tempting, but I want something to show my interest. I’m a film fanatic, from superhero movies to funny childhood movies, and there are so many characters I would love to see on Halloween. If you have the problem of wanting something unique and that shows your interest this year, I have come up with a list of known but not overdone costumes based on iconic movie characters!
Superman, Clark Kent
If you are a DC fan and want a costume inspired by the new blockbuster 2025 Superman, but don’t want to do the repeated Superman suit you have seen for years, Clark Kent can be done really well and with most things you have at home! Here’s an option you could do for the look:
- White button-up
- Superman shirt
- Black framed glasses
- Black tie
- Black bottoms
Putting the Superman shirt underneath the white button-up that isn’t buttoned all the way up gives the effect of Superman’s transition from Clark Kent to Superman while still tying in the superhero factor.
Paddington, Paddington
This adorable bear can be an identifiable look, bringing a fun throwback costume to your childhood stories using this cute character! To do this, an idea is:
- Blue dress or long coat
- Red hat
- (Optional) Matching red shoes
By using the coat or jacket, you really show Paddington’s main identifiable traits, and by using very little, you get an adorable costume!
Christine, Lady Bird
Lady Bird is a 2017 Greta Gerwig movie that has stayed relevant in the film community but is a well-known movie for its coming-of-age themes. To recreate the most well-known outfit worn by the main character, Christine (Lady Bird), you will need:
- Black sweater vest
- Grey pleated skirt
- White collared t-shirt
- Bright pink arm cast
The pink cast can be pricey, so it can be DIY-ed at home using paper towels. This indie movie shows the growth and maturity gained by the character, so paying tribute to this movie is a great way to appreciate it.
Challengers
Need a group costume? The movie Challengers, the huge pop culture success, has an iconic outfit that’s easy to recreate at home. To recreate Tashi, you just need a:
- White tank top
- White tennis skirt
- Tennis racket
To recreate Art, you need a:
- White long-sleeve shirt
- Red t-shirt
- Red baseball cap
- Black shorts
Lastly, to recreate the final piece of the group costumes, to recreate Patrick’s, you need:
- Black shorts
- Grey shirt
With the grey shirt, you need to write in black bold letters “I TOLD YOU,” which adds the final touch to put everything together.
Rowley, Diary of a Wimpy Kid
The last and final one is a funny one to have your personality shine through — Rowley from Diary of a Wimpy Kid. This is an iconic character that most people will know at first sight. To do this, you need:
- Blue jeans
- Blue long-sleeve button-up shirt
- White shirt
You need to write Rowley’s catchphrase, “Zoo Wee Mama,” on the white shirt to bring the outfit together and create a legendary character.
