Halloween is my favorite day of the year—and with it falling on a Friday this year, I couldn’t be more excited. Getting into the Halloween spirit comes easy for me, but if you need a little help, here are a few of my go-to songs to set the mood this week.
“Season of the Witch” by Lana Del Rey
Lana’s voice gives this classic a hazy, surreal edge. It’s a cover of singer Donovan’s track, and I can’t help but admit that Lana’s version gives it the mysterious edge it needed to feel more like Halloween.
“Rock You Like a Hurricane” by Scorpions
There’s something about the intensity of this song that just fits Halloween. It’s loud, fast, and feels like everything is about to spiral. The lyrics are a stretch for the Halloween theme, but the song, in its essence, is perfect for the chaos that’s Halloween.
“Hungry Like the Wolf” by Duran Duran
The lyrics and pacing make it feel like a chase—playful but a little dark. It’s got that restless energy that matches October nights.
“Disturbia” by Rihanna
The production on this one still feels eerie years later. It’s catchy, but there’s something off-kilter about it that makes it perfect for Halloween.
“Government Hooker” by Lady Gaga
Weird, bold, and a little unsettling—this track captures the over-the-top side of Halloween. It’s dramatic without trying too hard, and of course, Gaga matches the Halloween vibe.
