Translation Services

JCPS provides translation and interpretation services for families where English is not their first language. This includes guidance on translating documents, interpreters at school events and multilingual communication support to keep families informed.

Foster Care

JCPS tracks and supports students in foster care to make sure their school placement, academic needs and mental health resources are consistent, even when their home lives change. The district works with state child welfare agencies to keep students attending school.

Volunteer Talent Center

VTC coordinates community volunteers who mentor, tutor and support JCPS students. By bringing adults into the academic environment, the district expands access to mental health, mentorship and enrichment opportunities for students that wouldn’t otherwise receive it.

Student Homelessness

JCPS is required by the McKinley-Vento Act to identify and support students experiencing homelessness. The district collects this data to ensure these students — 4.1% of JCPS — receive transportation, stability and equal access to school. Funding for these services come through the KDE and grants managed by the DEP Division.

Literacy & Programs and CEP

‘Literacy & Programs’ strives to meet districtwide literacy goals, while the Children Enrichment Program gives students additional academic support, especially those who do not have access to tutors or enrichment outside of their school. These programs include after-school help, reading support and opportunities for academic growth.
