Dear Reader,

Welcome to On The Record! I’m Sammie Haden, this year’s editor-in-chief and a former writer. We, as a staff, are so excited to get back into the classroom – and the newsroom – to produce more content for you all.

Through an increase in our multimedia content, heightened usage of our website to connect with our readers, and more, we are more ready than ever to share with you groundbreaking and untold stories from young people across the city of Louisville.

From witnessing a civil rights case on the busing cuts to magnet schools in JCPS to watching Louisville-born Yared Nuguse cross a finish line at the Olympics to snag a bronze medal, it is an exciting time to be a young person in Louisville. Keeping up to date on current events and news is more essential than ever, and it starts right here in our city — it starts with us.

In the fast paced and forever changing world our generation is living in, it is imperative that we are all adapting and learning with it. The endless influx of information we take in on a daily basis can be daunting, but it is why we at On The Record are here to make it easier to digest.

Keep an eye out for feature articles, videos, reviews, new columns, infographics, photo stories, and more throughout the year!

Happy Reading,

Sammie Haden

Editor-in-chief
