Dear Reader,
Greetings to a new year of On the Record! I am Luke Boggs, this year’s Editor-in-Chief. The staff and I are ecstatic to continue the professional legacy of the magazine and its award-winning content.
This year, we’re reflecting on our stakeholders and adapting to a new era — not just of journalism, but politics, lifestyle, and culture. Louisville youth are at the forefront of change, and it is essential that we are reporting on them. From phone bans to DEI drawbacks to a potential presidential candidate residing in Kentucky, the city needs to hear from teen voices and their perspectives on youth-centered topics.
Aside from our unique content, we are adding some changes to our departments. Building on the success of multimedia last year, new forms of media will appear both in the magazine and on the website. Additionally, the social media and design teams are exploring new, creative ways to engage readers.
For ontherecordmag.com, we’re instituting a beat system to make online coverage more thorough and collaborative. You’ll see topics ranging from lifestyle, politics, sports, and arts, detached from our extensive feature stories in the magazine. And don’t worry; your favorite columns like Music Monday, Cafe Wednesday, and Food Friday are still here.
Keep your eyes peeled and ears attentive. This year will be a good one.
Stay curious,
Luke Boggs
