The doors open and I am hit with a rush of warm air, the breeze a welcome contrast to the punishing rain pouring down just outside. I await the usual cacophony of noises that comes along with Logan Street Market, but no sound greets me. Instead, I am met with the quiet buzz of a Tuesday afternoon, the space occupied every few seats by the calm of working patrons and conversing employees.Â

First to arrive, I make my way to the back of the marketplace, settling down at one of the rustic picnic tables as I wait for the friends I’m meeting.Â
For weeks, we have been wanting to visit Moon Crust Cafe, our group chat abuzz, as the stand has gained local traction with their decadent croissants and matcha buckets. As of today, plans have finally made it out of our messages, and I feel my stomach grumble just as I spot the two girls across the room.
We walk over to the little booth together, the string lights and wholly purple decor causing all of us to smile as we approach.Â
Jayla Carver, one of the girls in my group, steps forward, ordering a medium Strawberry Milk Matcha ($10.00). The barista laughs, surprised at her decisiveness, commenting that most people take way longer to decide after looking at the cafe’s menu.Â
Following Jayla’s order, the other girl in the group, Jillian Blackwell, steps up. She decides to order a medium Raspberry Matcha ($10.00) and the Pumpkin Cheesecake Croissant ($12.65).Â
Lastly, I move towards the counter and order a small Apple Pie Cheesecake Matcha ($8.44) as well as the Smoked Salmon Croissant ($13.80).Â

Jillian receives her croissant long before I do, and begins to eat it against the countertop as we wait for my food, offering up the occasional bite.Â
The dessert is sweet and full of rich cream, the perfect blend of pumpkin flavor and fall vibes. The treat is on the cafe’s fall menu, and it’s safe to say that we all wish it was a year round item.Â
Once we receive everything, we head to the table we selected and settle down. I dig into my sandwich, and Jayla finishes off her matcha, strawberry dregs the only thing left in the cup after a few minutes.Â
The Smoked Salmon croissant is rich in flavor, the fish accompanied by a classic cream cheese pairing, as well as avocado and arugula. I couldn’t finish the whole thing, and offered it to my tablemates about half-way through, deciding that the sandwich is definitely something that can be split among the party upon our next visit. Â
Soon after, Jillian comes to the same conclusion, wrapping up her croissant so she can take it home and eat it at a later date.Â

The three of us sit and talk at our table a little while longer, ultimately deciding that Moon Crust Cafe, while a little pricey for us, was a hit; the matcha perfectly dessert-like, just as the establishment had advertised online.Â
Overall, Moon Crust was the perfect place to spend a rainy afternoon, a great place for a sweet treat at the end of a busy day.Â
