“Dead Sea” by The Lumineers
Dead Sea is, in my opinion, the best song in The Lumineers discography. I’ve been a fan of The Lumineers for a couple of years at this point, but have recently gotten back into their music. Alongside the rest of these songs on my list, “Dead Sea” captures the fresh vibe in my life right now.
“Hype Me Up” by Wiz Khalifa
With the field hockey season and games starting up recently, I will always play hype music in the car on the way to a game or practice. This is definitely one of my favorites – it always gets me in a ready, excited mindset. The beat, the lyrics, everything is just perfect.
“Slow Grind” by Tory Lanez (feat. Jacquees)
Tory Lanez is the best person to listen to while studying. Most of his songs are chill and relaxing for me, so it’s perfect. In this song specifically, Lanez has very smooth vocals, which really work with the lyrics and the beat. It’s just really calm and good for background sound during homework.
“Woods” by Mac Miller
I like Tory Lanez, and I absolutely love Mac Miller for similar reasons. A lot of his songs are calming and low-key. Like I said with “Slow Grind,” perfect to listen to during homework. Although Mac Miller is more widely known for his more upbeat and popular songs like “Knock Knock” or “The Spins,” in my opinion his best songs are the calmer, smoother tunes.
“Drive By” by Train
Train has definitely decreased in popularity since their prime in the 2000s, but one of my friends reintroduced me to one of their songs. After that, Spotify put this song on my “Daylist” and since then it’s been on repeat. The song has a catchy chorus that I like to sing in the car, and I can’t get tired of singing along.
