Whether or not you think Glee is the best TV show of all time (it is), there’s no denying it has some absolute bangers. I consider myself one who holds gleek status, so I’ve decided to share my personal top 5 Glee songs. I have also included a glossary below for those who may not understand the gleecabulary.

Blame It (On The Alcohol)

This is undoubtedly my all-time favorite Glee song. You can always count on Artie and Mercedes to deliver on an RnB track. This is THE song to gleek out to. Also definitely better than the original. Sorry Jamie Foxx! But don’t worry, you had your moment in Annie. Also lets not forget that this was the episode where Rachel and Blaine kiss, making him realize that he is indeed gay.

My Man

“She may be difficult, but boy can she sing.” Kurt definitely knew what he was talking about. Rachel Berry gives a show stopping performance in “My Man.” She wanted that Nationals solo bad and she gave it her all. Unfortunately it wasn’t good enough for one Will Schuester. Screw you Schue! Maybe they would’ve won if he let her perform this. And we could’ve been spared the Finchel kiss. Bleh!

4 Minutes

Sue Sylvester was definitely problematic, but she knew who had the talent. It took Will seasons to give Mercedes even a slither of the spotlight, but Sue did it from the beginning. I wish we had gotten more of Kurt and Mercedes on the Cheerios. So what if they were constantly ridiculed and shamed while they were on the team? Let them sing! If only this number actually lasted four minutes! 

Somewhere Only We Know

Oh Darren Criss, you are everything. Maybe the real reason Pavarotti the bird died was because he was simply too stunned by this performance. Call me Sue Sylvester because I love me some Klaine. Finally a love ballad that’s unrelated to Finn or Rachel! This is also the least heinous staircase performance we were given. I’m still experiencing secondhand embarrassment from “Empire State Of Mind”. 

Not The Boy Next Door

How, just how, did Kurt not get into NYADA with this number. I mean c’mon! It’s not even a real school! Ryan Murphy when I catch you…. But seriously, this is Kurt’s magnum opus. Move over Hugh Jackman, there’s a new boy that’s not next door. Chris Colfer could break glass with that voice, and don’t get me started on the metallic pants! Tres chic!

Glossary

Gleek: A fan of Glee.

Nationals: The National Show Choir competition.

Pavarotti: A pet canary belonging to the Dalton Academy Warblers, a rival glee club. He dies while singing with Kurt, who was a Warbler for a short period.

Finchel: Ship name of Rachel Berry and Finn Hudson, Glee’s main on again/off again couple.

Klaine: Ship name of Blaine Warbler and Kurt Hummel.

Sue Sylvester: head cheer coach at William Mckinley High School and rival to the glee club. She locked Kurt and Blaine in an elevator until they got together in a Saw parody.

Darren Criss: Actor who plays Blaine.

NYADA: New York Academy of the Dramatic Arts. Was made up for Glee purposes.

Ryan Murphy: Creator of Glee.

Hugh Jackman: Actor and OG singer of Not The Boy Next Door.

Chris Colfer: Actor who plays Kurt.
